Tatum Newsome

Tatum Newsome is a second year graduate student here at Texas State studying Human Development and Family Sciences, Child Life track. Tatum graduated from Valdosta State University in the Spring of 2020 with her B.S. Psychology. She hopes to become a child life specialist.

Ashlee Saxon

Ashlee Saxon is a senior majoring in Human Development and Family Sciences. She is from Wimberley, TX and has two younger sisters. She enjoys traveling, snorkeling, and museums. Ashlee’s research interests include children and human rights, immigration and refugees, international development, and family policy. Her future career goals are to work with international organizations such as UNICEF, Refugees International, NCFR, World Food Programme, or Human Rights Watch.

Brook Alford

Brook Alford is a senior at Texas State. She is a Psychology major and Human Development and Family Sciences minor. Brook’s research interests include social media, narcissism, adolescents, anxiety, and depression. She plans to peruse a masters in mental health counseling. Also, her goal this year is to prepare for grad school.

Haniah Qureshi

Haniah Qureshi is a senior majoring in Psychology with a minor in Human Development and Family Sciences. Her research interests pertain largely to South Asian youth and how having immigrant families affect their educational development and mental health. In the future, Haniah plans to work as a clinical psychologist.

Kaitlyn Warren

Kaitlyn Warren is a Psychology major with a minor in Human Development and Family Sciences and African American Studies. Her research interests are how African American adolescents view and manage their mental health and how certain variables, like parenting, can impact them. Kaitlyn hopes to achieve her Master of Psychology. After working in the field, she would like to go back to school for her doctorate.

Shirley Barrera

Shirley Barrera is majoring in Biology. Her research interests include exploring family relationships and dynamics within the LatinX community. She plans on becoming a pediatrician.
